Review of To Make the Moment Last by Nqobile771

To Make the Moment Last is a non-fiction book narrated from the first person’s point of view by William E. Thrasher, Jr. The book tells the story of a band called the Incredible Jades. William was one of 12 band members and narrates how the band was formed and the escapades they got up to.

William and his bandmates were teenagers who had a passion for music. They frequently convened at the school’s band room and played various musical instruments. After a long time of trial and error, their skills were sharpened, and they felt ready to set stages on fire and dazzle crowds. At their debut party, the Incredible Jades were a hit with the crowds, and their journey to stardom began. They formed the band at an exciting time when a revolution was happening in the music industry. These school going and famous band members were in demand and had back-to-back performances. Whether they could cope with both school and their demanding new adventure is a titbit that I will leave to the readers to find out for themselves.

I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s writing style, and his story was engaging with sprinkles of subtle humor. I could paint vivid images in my mind of cheering crowds and the entertaining band. I liked the chronological arrangement of chapters in this book. It improved the book’s layout out and enhanced my reading pleasure as the story flowed impeccably from one chapter to the next.

What I disliked about the kindle version of the book was the arbitrary page numbering. It caused me a great deal of confusion at first as I wondered whether I had skipped pages. Besides this inconsistency, the book is a true page-turner with a riveting storyline. While the book deserves a perfect rating of four stars, I have to award it a rating of 3 out of 4 stars because the page numbers need further editing.

Although the book follows the events of the Incredible Jade band members in the 1960s, the story is relevant and relatable. It will appeal to older generations who led their best lives in the 60s as it will take them on a trip down memory lane and offer them an opportunity to reminisce. I also recommend it to teenagers and young adults, as it contains no profanity or sexual content. The book was exceptionally edited as I did not come across any grammatical or typographical errors.
